Alexios Athanasopoulos was born in Patras, Greece. He holds a Diploma in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. He is also a graduate Engineer of Oil Technology from the Technological Educational Institute of Kavala. He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and the Panhellenic Association of Chemical Engineers.
He has been working in HELPE since 1994. He began his career in the fuels retail market on the “Penetration & Development of ELDA’s fuel stations network” project as Head of the Dept. of Domestic Market Sales until 1998. Following this, he worked in the Petrochemicals Marketing Division as well as in the Oil Movement Division of HELPE’s Aspropyrgos refinery. Later, he worked for HELLENIC PETROLEUM CYPRUS as Special Projects Coordinator.
Currently he is working at EKO BULGARIA, originally as CPC Expert Manager/Commission on Protection of Competition. Since 13/03/17, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of EKO BULGARIA and on 19/06/17, he was appointed as Managing Director of the company.
